College of Law Students Appointed to Regional Positions with Law Association

FAMU College of Law students Ashley Little, third year from Charlotte, N.C.; Chelcee Lee, second year from Atlanta, Ga.; and Ryan Willis, third year from Homer, La., received appointments to the Southern Regional Black Law Student Association (SRBLSA).

The three students serve as members of SRBLSA Law Journal of the National Black Law Student Association, known as the Southern Journal of Policy and Justice. Little was appointed as senior editor, while Lee and Willis both were appointed as managing editors.

Ohio Marketing Executive Appointed to FAMU Board of Trustees

The Florida Board of Governors appointed marketing executive Kristin Harper, global vice president of Cardinal Health Inc., which is based in Dublin, Ohio, and reappointed Trustee Nicole Washington to the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Board of Trustees. Their appointments are effective immediately. Harper’s term will expire January 2021, and Washington’s in January 2025.

Harper earned an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from FAMU. She has also worked for Proctor & Gamble as well as The Hershey Company. Harper is the founder of the Central Ohio FAMU Alumni Chapter.

FAMU Opens New Center for Spatial Ecology and Restoration

FAMU’s School of the Environment opened the new Center for Spatial Ecology and Restoration (CSER) on the Tallahassee campus. The center will develop applied geospatial technology solutions for the restoration and management of natural resources, as well as programs to train the next generation of geospatial professionals and natural resource managers. 

In 2017, the USDA-Forest Service National Forests in Florida (NFF) and FAMU partnered to establish CSER. The partnership allowed FAMU to establish a geospatial sciences center focusing on conservation, restoration, monitoring, and education outreach programs within the Apalachicola region.

FAMU Faculty Member Recognized for Promoting Women in Business

Gina Kinchlow, MBA, a long-time marketing instructor in the Florida A&M University (FAMU) School of Business and Industry (SBI) and a business consultant, was recently recognized for her efforts to promote women in business.Kinchlow received the Women’s Business Council (WBC)’s Catalyst Award from the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce (BBMC) for her efforts to help female entrepreneurs in the community grow their business.
