A Kentucky State University alumnus was recently honored during a change of command ceremony in Fort Bliss, Texas for the HHB, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

Capt. Alexander D. Davie Sr is the new commanding officer for the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

Lt. Col. Joshua Fishman spoke highly of Davie during the ceremony.

“Your determination, selfless service and complete buy-in of what we do and what is expected of us as the largest, most lethal and most modernized air and missile organization on the planet, is what got you here,” Fishman said. “My advice to you is to never stop advocating for the HHB soldiers so that they are the best trained, best equipped and most resilient. If you continue that effort and these mighty soldiers continue to observe that in you, they will take care of your mission and you will succeed.”

Davie thanked many that supported him and helped him get where he is.

“I am honored and humbled to become this battery commander at such a critical time in our unit’s history,” Davie said. “My hope and my prayer is that I become a servant leader and a commander that makes the soldiers, their families and the leadership of this brigade proud. We have a lot of work to do going forward but I know if we work together that this battery can achieve anything.”

Davie is a 2015 Kentucky State University graduate who was commissioned in the Army the same year. He played baseball for four years as a Thorobred.

Davie’s youngest sister, Angelica Davie, currently attends Kentucky State.

“I would like to see more Thorobreds becoming U.S. Army officers,” Davie said. “There are leaders walking around Kentucky State who have the potential to lead in the world’s greatest army.”
