An incoming freshman from St. Louis with 27 acceptance letters and $436,000 in offered scholarships has chosen to attend Kentucky State University in the fall.

Nashiah Dent, an aspiring nursing major, received 27 acceptance letters and nearly half a million dollars in scholarship offers after applying through the Common Black College Application.

Dent said she chose to visit Southern Illinois University of Carbondale and Lincoln University of Missouri but ultimately decided to become a Thorobred.

The family dynamic of Kentucky State is what swayed my decision to attend,” Dent said. “All the other schools were nice with great offers and programs but I knew if I didn’t go to K-State I would regret missing out on the opportunity to find my forever family. Kentucky State gave off a vibe that I did not see anywhere else! I love how the school basically becomes another close knit family to everyone who attends.”

Dent will get a jump start on her college career by attending the Pre-College Academy this summer.

“I am also excited to participate in PCA this summer,” Dent said. “I think it is a great ‘get ahead’ choice and I’m glad Kentucky State offers it.”
